19 Oct Hot Topic 8 – How to promote a rare disease treatment.
As you may know, in the United States, a rare disease is defined as a disease or condition that affects fewer than 200,000 people. Finding these patients can be a real challenge for sales representatives promoting a treatment of a rare disease.
Sales teams need to understand the diagnostic process that these patients go through, as well as the referral cascade to find the physician who will be prescribing the treatment.
Training workshops can support your sales team’s practice on how to navigate this maze in a safe environment, share best practices, collaborate across functions, and be more efficient when back in the field.
Some ideas your training team might consider are:
- A Cross-Functional Patient Journey Workshop – where teams work in regions across all field functions to focus on their team’s skills to impact the patient getting access to and staying on your treatment, followed by a Patient Interview Panel on the main stage
- A Navigating the HCP Maze Workshop – which is a sort of treasure hunt with role plays, best practice sharing, probing and referrals, to help your teams practice in a safe environment
